It was going to be a sonnet, but we got a little greedy.

What,,,

if we could be a poem, we thought
a thing forever fixed in time,
between these hollow pages caught
your meaning, symbol, muse and rhyme

if we could never speak again
and never had to classify
the shadows that our words portend
silenced, fagmented lacunae

if blades that slip between our lips
and come to rest upon your thighs
could spill our blood into your kiss
our crushing lows, our blazing highs

if we could bask inside your love
would we at last be justified
and finally find we are enough
sufficient and unqualified
