and as a rule I don't mind spiders. I had a daddy long legs that lived in the corner of my living room for over 5 years (something else that I lost this year was that spider friend) it kept the indoor plant gnat population in check. I have some amazing jumping spiders in the garden with their iridescent eyes... but I ain't harboring any freaking black widows.
I wonder what I"m going to unpack when I move... there are tons of packed boxes out in the garage right now ☹️
and now I'm in the position of:
do I bring the bike in the house to do a quick maintenance check / pump up the tires when there could be additional spiders in the bike bags...
or
do I do that stuff out in the garage where there may also be more spiders hiding out...😱
@MsMerope I like spiders. Except black widows. They are smashed. Everyone else gets taken outside or fed random bugs ;-)
@ai6yr and this one just seemed too big to smash, I'm probably underestimating that it was the size of a half dollar. [including the legs] damn thing'd been living the good life somewhere.
@MsMerope The black widows that move next to beehives are generally that size... IMMENSE. They get extremely fat eating bees. It is quite alarming, LOL. I used to go outside and smash the black windows at night to reduce the population... fortunately, the backyard is now populated with giant orb spiders (which are gigantic and scary, but not venomous to humans like the black windows). Don't like walking your face into their webs, though, LOL...
@ai6yr the orb weavers make such pretty webs though. I haven't had one of those around here in a long time.
