I'm going to sew some more of my seeds today which means I need to find some pots or other weird and wonderful things to plant them in!
Can't wait until we move and I can sort out a proper garden rather than planting into pots and wellies and who knows what else to grow stuff (not that there's anything wrong with that and it's definitely a good started for me as I have no idea what I'm doing - I just prefer to be able to design and plan everything).
Very chilly and pretty miserable out there so have only planted a few things today - herbs on the windowsill, and some flowers to attract some bees and things.
I've got some chard, onion, marrow and Pak choi seeds to plant hopefully tomorrow although finding things to plant in is becoming a challenge, as you can see from what I've planted into today 🤣.
My apple seeds are sprouting! Very exciting!
Are ants a problem for #GrowYourOwn? We have a serious ant problem.
I put powder down (every year). This year I put mint oil down but nothing makes a difference. They are literally everywhere.
I've given up on the broccoli (it's been over a month, it's not germinating) so planted the flower card in there as it wasn't doing anything in the container I had it in.
Just planted some swiss chard too.
The small terracotta pot is some sunflowers that weren't taking in the previous container. Fingers they're happier in there.
Big thanks for all the mushroom advice. I've repotted some of them and composted the mushrooms and previous soil.
Have put the repotted ones outside and have kept some inside in case those don't make it. Although the way the coriander is going and did last year I suspect that will be quite happy!
The carrots in the wellies are doing far better than the ones in the trough.
Any ideas? Maybe just cos it's deeper?
Any smart ideas of how I can fix this hanging basket to this wall?
I do not have power tools, nor the skills to use them!
I want to put strawberries in the basket.
@alexisbushnell Is there space between the brick and the wooden fence? (From the picture it's not clear.)
If so, you could run a loop of wire or strong cord behind those two bricks and then through part of the basket, tying it to the wall.
