Today, I review the Nikkor-branded 50mm f/1.8 lens and compare it to my nearly identical Series E:

Series E gets a lot of flack, and I think some of it may be deserved! But it's still a good lens for many uses and a pleasant surprise for anyone who thinks that Nikon glass is expensive.
Any thoughts on Nikon's "Economy" brand?
