That's the narrative which they and you believe. But it's not factual. It's the human mind that can't / won't voluntarily imagine global disruptive disasters or regional disasters that echo through the fragile fabric of tech civilisation and rip it apart.
Hundreds of millions of highly complex-specialised personell are needed to run our tech civilisation from mining raw materials for manufacturing and transporting lab tubes to lubricants to lorry tires and also fossil fuels. If they die you can't replace them with others bc you can't get others trained, anymore.
So what happens when shit hits the fan is that today's decision-makers in economy, politics, media are just as focked as everybody else. A bunker with shelves of food won't save the rich. If they survive the first death waves at all, they'll become foraging nomads just like all other survivors in cultures where the majority has long forgotten how to make do with less.
